Africa's Future is in Our Hands.

By Engr. Chigozie Chukwuemeka Ononiwu.

The insect that eats the vegetables lives amongst the vegetables. This ancient proverb reminds us that the power to reform, develop, and preserve Africa lies within us. We must take ownership of our destiny and stop relying on external powers to shape our future.

For too long, the "whiteman" has exploited our abundant natural resources in cohort with some African governments, using mechanisms like:

- Support for weak and corrupt governments.

- Predatory loans.

- Unfair trade practices.

- Exploitative mining and drilling deals.

These deals have perpetuated poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation, while enriching a select few. It's time for us to break free from these shackles and forge our own path.

We must recognize that Africa's development is our sole responsibility. We must harness our collective strength, creativity, and resilience to create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.

So, what can we do? Let's start by:

- Empowering our communities through education and skill-building.

- Investing in African-led initiatives and businesses.

- Promoting good governance and holding our leaders accountable.

- Celebrating our diversity and rich cultural heritage.

- Embracing innovation and technology to drive progress.

Together, we can unlock Africa's full potential and create a future that is truly our own. The time for change is now. Let's rise up and take control of our destiny!
