LE MASSACRE OUBLIÉ DE TULSA : UNE INJUSTICE TROUBLANTE

Cette vidéo retrace les événements tragiques du massacre de Tulsa en 1921. Surnommée "Black Wall Street" pour sa richesse et sa prospérité, Tulsa était une ville florissante entièrement construite par et pour des Afro-Américains, qui fuyaient le racisme. La ville comptait des églises, des hôpitaux, des entreprises et même des banques, avec des entrepreneurs noirs qui employaient des personnes blanches, ce qui était rarissime à l'époque.
Tout s'est effondré en une seule nuit. Un jeune homme noir de 19 ans a été accusé de tentative de viol sur une femme blanche. Malgré l'absence de plainte de la femme, cette rumeur a servi de prétexte à 1500 personnes blanches armées pour envahir le quartier. Ils ont pillé, brûlé et assassiné, causant la mort de 300 personnes et laissant 10 000 sans-abri.
Le plus choquant est l'absence totale de justice : aucun coupable n'a été condamné et aucune famille n'a été indemnisée. Les États-Unis ont étouffé l'affaire pendant 70 ans. Les journaux, les livres d'histoire et les témoignages des survivants ont été censurés pour cacher la vérité. Il a fallu attendre 2001 et le "1921 Tulsa Race Riot Reconciliation Act" pour qu'un rapport officiel reconnaisse le massacre racial, mais toujours sans offrir d'indemnisation aux victimes.
